Blues & Rock In The Garden – Building Malawi

Ardent

On Saturday 6th July, the Ardent team were delighted to attend and help out with Building Malawi’s annual event “Blues and Rock in the Garden” in Colchester. The event raised over £8,000 which will go towards building sustainable Malawian run schools, libraries and a sports academy for local children of all ages.

The charity and event is run by Tom Bowden, founder and trustee of Building Malawi, and his family who over the past 21 years have turned what was once a small gathering attended by a handful of family and friends into an annual fixture attended by over 500 people from the local area and beyond. It was with great pleasure that we had the chance to see Tom awarded with Paul Harris Fellows Award from The Rotary Foundation for all of his hard work and commitment to the charity over the years.

Gerry used his excellent sales skills selling burgers and hot dogs on the BBQ whilst Phil’s normally cool and calm demeanour was challenged by flipping over 200 burgers, by his own count! Jane trained the next generation of Ardent’s employees in sale skills with raffle ticket sales! All in all the event was a real family affair and we hope to return next year with our ever expanding team and families to support a great charity.
